Sunita is an accomplished writer, producer, actor, and who has been addressing prevalent social issues through her art for more than 25 years.
As a freelance writer and producer she has worked for several esteemed organisations and government departments such as Doordarshan, Zee TV, All India Radio, PCRA, Ministry of Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare, Environment, as well as NGOs like Prayas International, Leprosy Mission and many more.
She has written a weekly radio programme for BBC World Service Trust “ Majboor Kisko Bola” and has also worked with BBC Media Action as a writer.
‘Disabled Hain Disposable Nahin’ a film written and directed by her was nominated in the ‘We Care Film Festival 2006’. Two other films based on the lives of physically challenged written by her were nominated in Geneva Film Festival and various other film festivals.
When Sunita believes in a cause she holds nothing back and has used her art to create awareness to bring about change. While producing a series on AIDS awareness for NACO, Sunita visited redlight areas interviewing sex workers and members of LGBTQI+ community to portray the reality of their lives with authenticity. She has recently written and produced more than 30 short films based on various social issues.
Sunita is also a mentor to many young, aspiring actors who look up to her for guidance and support. She is a visiting faculty for many institutions where she shares her knowledge and experience with the future generation.
